For the past 2 years Colin Way has teamed up with Avenue Magazine, Writer Tony Charron and Designer Lisa Turner to get a behind scenes look at the artists who make up the Calgary Folk Music Festival. 

In 2009 Lisa, Tony and Colin interviewed, photographed and illustrated over 30 artists from North America and around the world. 2010 was no different in terms of the variety and depth of artistic talent this creative team had the privilege of meeting, interviewing and photographing.

2011 will be a lo fi year with only polaroids and a camera phone at Colin’s disposal… maybe a scanner in tow. Photos will be uploaded on the go in hopes of capturing not only the artists behind the scenes but also the ambiance that makes this festival an important to do item on many Calgarians list. In using polaroids it is the intent of the photographer to capture the immediacy of the festival in a tangible form. The obvious irony being that the tangible form will quickly be converted and presented in a disposable digital one. The aesthetic however, will remain in tact.
